Goes Well with Wine
Harp music by Mike Nielsen
Here are 20 tunes, composed mostly by me that I recorded between 1998 and 2003. They are all true expressions of my spirit. I put them all on this CD to create a kind of sonic pillow for you to rest your weary mind at the end of a long day. I composed or arranged them in the spirit of creating pretty music that touches the heart with a gentle hand. Enjoy!
1. Finger Painting: A nice tune about the using my fingers to create images in your mind.
2. Wyoming: A little place in Delaware with lots of history and great peaches.
3. Chanteuse: Beautiful women deserve beautiful music.
4. Mirror Lake: Another tune about a special place in my little town.
5. Mamas Music: For my wife and best friend, Betsy.
6. Deborah Dancer: For DHC, the jazz harpist with a sense of humor and a zest for life.
7. Butterfly / Breathing Room: A great Irish slip jig followed by my own tune about having time to do my own thing.
8. Renate: A commission by my friend Jeff in honor of his wife.
9. Heroic Theme: Because it is the closest I can come to something faintly majestic.
10. Hector the hero: A tune by Scott Skinner about a great man done in by the system.
11. Mea Culpa: To love is to always say you are sorry when you do stupid stuff.
12. Chet Chat: One of my early compositions created in a very hot music room during a long sultry summer.
13. Dry Spell: Another summer tune about how it feels when rain first comes after a long drought.
14. All I Need to Know: Some things are more important than others; music is way up there in my life.
15. Pay the Piper / Burning of the Pipers Hut: Ah the life of a musician, sometimes the hero, sometimes the goat.
16. Women of Ireland: By Sean O'Riada, one of the real founders of the Chieftains.
17. Kleptomusica: I steal ideas from the best. Is there any other way to make music?
18. Bobbie Casey: Lived in London and played great Irish fiddle
19. Song for John: For a friend who died too young.
20. Still Awake? If so, take another sip of wine and replay the album until you have really let go of the day.
